Accomplished San Francisco pianist Ran Andreini spent decades performing with some of the bay area’s finest jazz artists, including Bill Watrous (Maynard Ferguson), Jamie Davis (Count Basie), Andy Martin (Quincy Jones), Michael Davis (Rolling Stones), composer Earl Zindars, Henry Cuesta (Lawrence Welk), Tom Bones Malone (Blues Brothers), Steve Miller (Steve Miller Band) Opera legend Dame Joan Sutherland as well as many more. Since relocating to the southern Willamette Valley, Ran has been performing with Brohemia After Dark (Hank and Bill Shreve of the Hank Shreve Band), Paul Slate in the Eugene Hard Bop Collective, and in Steve Mosher’s Eugene Jazz Ambassadors. He has now begun to grace the stage as a key member of Jazz Noir.
STEVE MOSHER is one of many who came to jazz from what is now called 'classic' rock, Steve transitioned to playing Rhythm and Blues with singer/harpist Curtis Salgado in 1974. Upon discovering Jazz in 1976, he began playing and touring with notable northwest pianist Bill Sabol. Steve expanded his musical endeavours by forming and touring with the original Extra Texture in 1978. In 1980 he began experimenting with the use of carbon fiber in the manufacture of musical instruments. Along with continuing to perform in private with many local Eugene-area jazz players, he in 1989 incorporated Moses Carbon Graphite, a music industry company that for over 30 years produced carbon fiber-based components and parts for many well-known guitar and bass companies... as well as players It is Steve's pleasure to now be a member of Jazz Noir.
Drummer Paul Slate has performed throughout Oregon's Willamette Valley jazz scene since the early 1980s. Over the course of his career, he has performed and recorded with pianist Bill Sabol (Detour Ahead, Theme for Ernie, Call Me, Elm), Canadian jazz guitarist Allan Vance (Stories of the Pacific Northwest), pianist John Workman (Love at Mel's Diner), Emmett Williams, guitarist Chris Sorenson, the Eugene Hard Bop Collective, Bop Shop (Bop Shop), the fusion group The Benefactors, and many other notable artists. He now brings his substantial talent to Jazz Noir.
Along with being a member of Jazz Noir, Dave performs on trumpet and flugelhorn as a member of Barb Healy’s “Groove Too”, “The Fighting Instruments of Karma”, "Fat Jam Temple", "The Macedonian Hubcaps", "Buzzy and the Benzedrines", and the “Girl Circus Orchestra” and has played for many years with legendary PNW Salsa band “Caliente”. He performs regularly with the Eugene Symphony and the Oregon Mozart Players. He composes, arranges, orchestrates, leads bands and records. Dave teaches trumpet at Lane Community College, in his own studio of 20 students and coaches the Eugene Springfield Youth Symphonies brass.
